While her cornerstone was laid in 1858 and her doors swept open in 1879, it was over 150 years ago, when Archbishop John Hughes announced his inspired ambition to build the new Saint Patrick Cathedral. Located in the heart of uptown Manhattan the St. Patrick's Cathedral is considered one of the worlds most famous and beautiful cathedrals.
I like this photo because of the many "ironies" it contains. Notice the old style structure in the middle of a modern city and its skyscrapers. Also the silhouette of the Atlas Statue in the foreground symbolizing the Greeks worship of many gods directly across from what some consider the icon of Catholic religion and their worship of one God.
A great conversation piece for any home or office.
